Hurghada is an easy place for a family holiday. The sea is calm and warm, the trips are short, and we pick you up from your hotel anywhere in Hurghada for free. This guide covers which of our trips work best with children, what to expect on each, and the few things to plan for.
Can Children Join Hurghada Excursions?
Yes. Children of every age can join our trips, even babies. The one exception we make is the desert safari: quads, buggies and bumpy jeep tracks are not a good fit for babies and small children, so we advise families with little ones to choose a sea trip or a half-day trip instead. Quad drivers must be 18 or older.
Best Sea Trips for Families
1. Orange Bay
Pale sand and shallow, clear water on Giftun Island. The day includes two snorkelling stops, lunch on the boat and 1h30 on the beach. Children do not need to swim: life jackets are available for anyone who wants to go in the water. Orange Bay, €25 per person.
2. Semi-Submarine
The easiest way for small children to see the reef. You sit below the waterline and watch the coral and fish through the windows, with no snorkelling needed. A half-day trip. Semi-Submarine, €20 per person.
3. Private Speedboat
A boat just for your family, for 4 hours, so you set the pace for nap times and snacks. Option 1, €150: Dolphin House and a snorkelling stop. Option 2, €180: adds White Island. Option 3, €200: adds Orange Bay or Hula Hula and White Island. Snorkel gear, life jackets, soft drinks and fruit are included. Private speedboat
4. Dolphin House
The reef where wild spinner dolphins are often seen. When they are near, you can swim close to them; they are wild animals, so a sighting is likely but not guaranteed. Then two snorkelling stops and lunch on the boat. Dolphin House, €25 per person.
5. Pirates Boat
A full day on a pirate-themed boat, a fun choice for children. Pirates Boat, €85 per person.
Family Trips on Land
